The Importance of the Liposuction Doctor in the Success of Liposuction

Liposuction is actually a very simple process by which a cannula is inserted under the skin to remove fat by vacuum aspiration. However, the technique involved requires a great deal of tenacity and experience lest the cannula strays in the surrounding tissues and creates life-threatening damage. Hence, the importance of the liposuction doctor.

Success of Liposuction

When you think of liposuction, you conjure a simple and safe method of fat removal; a method by which you can get rid of your fat in a matter of hours and then walk back home from the hospital as if nothing has happened. This is the ideal scenario. However, think of this scenario:

A 35 year old woman went for an abdomen liposuction surgery. There had been some 10 liters of fat removed from the abdomen and thighs region in over two hours. The patient all of a sudden goes into deep shock; when treatment is given to counteract it, it is found that her abdomen has been perforated in at least three places. An emergency surgery is conducted to seal the perforations and the patient survives. This too, can happen!

Hence, the success of the liposuction lies definitely on the liposuction doctor to a very large extent. The importance of the liposuction doctor is not during the surgery but also in the pre and post surgery care. There are a number of tests to be carried out before the liposuction procedure is done. The right interpretation of these tests and identification of the potential health risks is most important to the success of the procedure.

You check the credentials whether he or she is registered and for how long he or she has done the procedure. You need to talk with this person about your fears, about the odds and risks involved, and about the precautions you need to take. If you find them easy to talk to and comfortable to share your fears with, then they might be a good doctor It is definitely very important to have a good and experienced surgeon doing your surgery, more so if you have large areas of fat to be removed.
